WHY I’M RUNNING.

“I’m running for Mayor because Sioux Falls is at a pivotal moment — one that demands steady leadership, unity, and real experience. After eight years on the City Council, I’ve seen firsthand what works and what’s at stake for our growing city. I’m a bridge builder and problem solver who listens, brings people together, and focuses on solutions, not politics. Sioux Falls has given me every opportunity in life, and I’m committed to keeping our city safe, strong, and full of opportunity for every family.”

A Defining Moment for Sioux Falls

Sioux Falls is experiencing tremendous growth and momentum — and with that momentum comes responsibility. We need a mayor who can unite people, navigate complexity, and keep our city moving forward with stability and common sense. After eight years on the City Council, including leading the council through some of our city’s most challenging times, I understand the decisions ahead and the leadership they require.

A Commitment to Building Bridges

I’m running because Sioux Falls deserves a leader who brings people together rather than pushing them apart. Throughout my career — in business, in public service, and in the community — I’ve built a reputation as a bridge builder and problem solver. I work with people of all views and backgrounds to find solutions that serve the greater good. That’s the kind of leadership this moment demands.

Protecting What Makes Sioux Falls Strong

Our city’s success story is incredible, but success also comes with challenges. We must stay ahead of the curve on public safety, infrastructure, and responsible growth — while ensuring every neighborhood and every family benefits from the opportunities ahead. I believe in balanced, city-wide investment and in empowering the next generation of leaders to step forward and shape our future.

Service Is at the Heart of My Candidacy

I’ve always believed that life truly begins when we begin to serve others. That belief has shaped my career, my leadership, and my approach to this campaign. Sioux Falls has given me every opportunity in life, and I’m running for Mayor to give back — to serve with purpose, lift people up, and ensure our city remains safe, strong, and full of opportunity for the generations to come.

Meet Marshall.

Marshall Selberg is a proven community leader, small business owner, and former City Council member who has spent his career bringing people together to solve problems and strengthen Sioux Falls. Born and raised in Hendricks, Minnesota, Marshall graduated from South Dakota State University with degrees in History and Economics before spending 15 years in the hospitality industry managing diverse teams and complex operations. For the past 18 years, he has been a successful real estate business owner, helping families and local entrepreneurs build their futures while gaining firsthand insight into the city’s growth and economic landscape. During his eight years representing the Southwest District on the Sioux Falls City Council—including multiple years in Council Leadership and two terms as Chair—Marshall earned a reputation as a bridge builder and steady decision-maker who unites people of all backgrounds to move the city forward. His campaign for Mayor is grounded in a belief that Sioux Falls thrives when leaders listen, collaborate, and act with common sense. Motivated by a lifelong commitment to service, Marshall is running to ensure the city remains safe, strong, and full of opportunity for the next generation.
