Sioux Falls deserves a mayor who listens, leads, and delivers. Marshall Selberg is committed to keeping our city safe, strengthening infrastructure, and growing responsibly — so every resident benefits from the opportunities ahead.

Why I’m Running.

I’m running for Mayor because Sioux Falls is at a pivotal moment — one that demands steady leadership, unity, and real experience. After eight years on the City Council, I’ve seen firsthand what works and what’s at stake for our growing city. I’m a bridge builder and problem solver who listens, brings people together, and focuses on solutions, not politics. Sioux Falls has given me every opportunity in life, and I’m committed to keeping our city safe, strong, and full of opportunity for every family.

Growing An Economy The Right Way. A Safe & Strong Sioux Falls. Infrastructure That Works For Everyone. Supporting Youth & Families. A City That Supports Its People.

  • A thriving city is built on smart planning, strong partnerships, and opportunity for everyone.

    • Promote balanced, responsible development

    • Support small businesses and local employers

    • Create opportunities for workers, families, and entrepreneurs

Economic development is about more than creating jobs — it’s about strengthening the services and amenities that make Sioux Falls a great place to live. Growth fuels the parks where our kids play, the police and fire departments that protect us, and the infrastructure that keeps our city running smoothly. True progress means building a community where every resident feels the impact of growth in their daily lives.

  • Safer neighborhoods begin with strong support for the people who protect us.

    • Ensure police and first responders have the staffing and resources they need

    • Strengthen community policing and proactive crime prevention

    • Keep every neighborhood safe as Sioux Falls continues to grow

Our recent crime updates remind us that while we’ve kept pace with population growth, statistics can’t comfort those personally impacted by crime. For them, it’s not “just numbers.” Safety requires vigilance. We must stay ahead of the curve by ensuring our law enforcement officers, first responders, and public safety professionals are properly staffed and supported. A thriving city must first be a safe city.

  • Great cities plan ahead — and Sioux Falls deserves infrastructure built for the future.

    • Invest in roads, utilities, and long-term planning

    • Expand and improve parks and recreation spaces

    • Build smarter to serve a fast-growing city

Infrastructure isn’t flashy, but it’s vital. Veterans Parkway, wastewater expansions, and major interchange projects at Cliff and Minnesota on I-229 are prime examples of the long-term planning that keeps Sioux Falls moving forward. I commend current and past leadership for their foresight. When I travel to other cities, I’m reminded of just how well Sioux Falls maintains its streets and services. Yes, we may hit a pothole or two — but overall, we’ve done an exceptional job. And we must continue to plan boldly for the future.

  • Families are the heart of Sioux Falls — and our policies must help them succeed

    • Expand access to community and youth programs

    • Strengthen support systems that help kids grow and thrive

    • Build safe, healthy environments for all families

We need to inspire a new generation of civic pride and duty. Step up, get involved and lead. If you want representation of someone who’s been involved in the community, then elect someone who’s been involved in the community. I’ve been involved with the Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Lions Club, Sioux Falls Chapter of the American Cancer Society, Optimist Club, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Realtor Association of the Sioux Empire, Home Builders Association of the Sioux Empire, Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and Bluffs Neighborhood Organization. As a highly involved individual in our community, I see this same energy today in our younger generations. We must give them every opportunity to lead, innovate, and shape the future of our city.

  • A strong community is one that supports its most vulnerable and fosters pride in every neighborhood.

    • Address housing challenges and support solutions to homelessness

    • Maintain clean, vibrant public spaces

    • Strengthen partnerships that improve quality of life

While we must always continue to reach higher, we can’t forget to reach down and pull up those in need. Anxiety, depression, addiction and other mental health struggles are areas that must be addressed in our growing city. While I am a fiscal conservative, on the social program end of government, we have to move to the middle when necessary and people are hurting. Let’s end the stigma and reach out to the countless resources that are available in this community and our government has to be an advocate.

"It is my great honor to run for Mayor of Sioux Falls because I believe our city’s best days are ahead—if we work together to make them happen."
